Iya

The Teachers:

Sheila Teaching Sheila haswell has been teaching Iyengar Yoga for over 30 years. During that time she has visited the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Pune on six occasions, the most recent being in February 2011. She has attended classes with BKS Iyengar in London and Paris and both Geeta Iyengar’s visits to the UK.
Sheila is a senior teacher with a wealth of knowledge to give. She is chair of the Assessment and Teacher Training Committee, a sub committee of IYA(UK), and also has a place on the Executive committee (EX) of the IYA(UK).
When not teaching at Sarva, Sheila is in great demand teaching in the UK and abroad. She has taught many summer schools and workshops. Sheila’s compassionate teaching style, depth of understanding and encouraging approach make her yoga events a not-to-be-missed experience.

Headstand by Ally Ally Hill founded the Sarva Iyengar Yoga Institute with Sheila Haswell in 2002. She passed her Introductory Teachers Certificate in 2004 and Intermediate Junior 1 in 2006. Ally has also studied with the Iyengar family in Pune, India - most recently in February 2011 - and at both Geeta Iyengar’s visits to the UK. Ally is a member of the Executive Committee (EX) of the IYA(UK).
As well as teaching her own classes, Ally works with Sheila at yoga events, as well as in the Remedial Classes and Introductory Teacher Training, which are held at Sarva.

Sara Braham gained her Introductory certificate in 2005. She has studied Iyengar yoga since 1999. Sara is also Office Manager here at Sarva.

Linda Jolliffe has been practising yoga for over 16 years and passed her Introductory certificate in 1998 and her Intermediate Junior Level 1 in March 2007. Linda currently teaches classes for both Wycombe District Council and Bucks County Council as well as running her own classes in Bourne End.

Helen Saunders has been practising yoga for over nine years and passed her Introductory certificate in 2000.

Helen Connaughton gained her Introductory Certificate in October 2003. She has been studying yoga for many years and runs her own class in Windsor.

Uday Bhosale

Uday Bhosale is a teacher direct from the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune. He has been studying at the Iyengar’s home institute for over 12 years and has been fortunate to be allowed to teach there and so he has a wealth of experience to impart. Uday is staying in the UK for the rest of 2011 and we are very pleased to find he is living in the Reading area. This man comes highly recommended so come and experience some authentic Pune style teaching.


Iya
All yoga classes and workshops at the centre are conducted by teachers who hold the international Iyengar Yoga Certification Mark, a symbol of excellence and authenticity in teaching the Iyengar method in its purest form.
